Week 32 - When the Weeks Fly

Wow, every so often you can feel the time slipping through your fingers out here. This is crazy. I feel like if I don't hold on tight enough, it'll all just be over before I know it. Well, this week we saw miracles all over the place! The biggest miracle was at the very beginning of the week, when we finally did a lesson with Miretta. Miretta is the daughter of one of our recent baptisms, and she's wonderful! To sum up our lessons with her, we invited her to pray if the church was true, and she'd already prayed about it; the next lesson, we started to introduce the history behind the Book of Mormon and she interrupted us and said "I know this story!" and then perfectly summed it up and told us she'd read all the introductory information to the Book. Week 68 - Sometimes Life is Like A Grease Fire

Leaving Raiatea was so sad! I miss it a lot, but I'm actually very happy to be back in Papeari. (One of the pictures from the airport. It was a hard parting. But, all is well. I love you, Raiatea. We'll see each other again soon.) It's been awesome in Papeari! Because I started in the secteur next to here, all of these people remember my face a little bit and I get to catch up on so many people from the beginning. So much has changed, and yet so little has changed. And now, an explanation of the title. Yesterday, after our fast, we were supposed to get a kind of tahitian food at our house. It's a type of pork that is chopped up, smoked, put inside a hollow stick of bamboo, and frozen so that you can reheat it at your house and eat it with rice. They brought it over, and we weren't sure how to heat it up, so we decided to put the stick of bamboo whole in the oven. And then we let it cook. (I don't like cooking, by the way.) I checked o...

Week 53 - A Perfect Joy

In reading our Three Months of Joy this week (3 Nephi), I learned about the joy that Christ feels when we accept his sacrifice and his commandments that he has offered to us. It's a perfect joy that is absolutely unreal, and one day I will understand it more completely. Right now, I know the blessings we receive when we are obedient help us to feel in pieces this same joy that He feels. I love my Savior - I am so grateful for Jesus Christ and for His perfect love and perfect joy that He offers us. He understands us and offers each of us a perfect joy every day, and one day we will learn how to accept it, fully and completely.
