Week 26 - Transcribing Joy

Hi everyone! This week Ally spoke her update so it's very real and written the way she would speak. I included the recording that I took because it's way more fun to listen to her voice than to read my interpretation of it! Enjoy!

Basically, it's been raining for two weeks. Everyday it has rained. Most of the days have been full rains, like it doesn't stop. Sometimes it rains really hard and sometimes it's just like the sky is spitting on you. It's been raining a lot. 

I wore my chaco's the other day and they rubbed my feet raw. It hurt so bad, they hurt mega bad it was just a bad day where we were out in the rain all day. We were on foot because we didn't bring our bikes. So, it was just kind of difficult and we weren't feeling great. But one of the cool things that I thought about that day was when we got home, we'd been working with people and finding people, we'd walked all the way to the end of our sector, but when we got home someone was like "Hey, how ya doing?" I said "Well, my feet are wrecked it's been raining all day, my hair hasn't been dry since I woke up this morning, but it was a good day. It was a good day and I just thought it was cool that it didn't really matter that whatever happened to me even though my feet were super sore, even though I was really, really tired...I felt like I got run over by a truck, it was just cool to sit there and think well, this was a good day.

It taught me a little bit about choosing joy and enjoying my time on my mission.

The other thing that would be a good update is that Bettyna who got baptized last week, and Pierre, both of them are doing great. We did a little lesson with Bettyna and she said something really cute, basically she said, I'm just so happy now! I'm not happy like the way I was before. It doesn't matter what happens anymore, I'm just happy! She's just a ray of sunshine! She really has this light in her, even though she's always been a happy person, there's a light there that wasn't there before. And then we had a miracle with her. 

We had a temple trip on Saturday, and we have to send in the forms for their baptism before they can get their temple reccomend. So we sent in the forms on Monday, and her mempership number hadn't come in so we were kind of confused, we were worried. So we checked the email again and the people had emailed us and said that the pictures didn't work, they couldn't see the information. But we didn't look at our email till then so it was the day before and we were like, We don't know what to do. We can't get her recommend and she had been preparing names for the temple to bring, but there was no way. So we just said well, we're gonna resend it and hope for the best. We were praying really hard for it, just hoping that she was going to be able to go. Usually this process takes 3-7 days so were were like maybe she'll have it by tomorrow morning, maybe this will happen, but most likely it's going to take a week. So we go through the rest of our day. We go through our lessons and stuff and then we go and we're eating dinner and we're going over the day, going over everything that happened and then we get this call from Bishop and he says "Hey, it's here! The number came" and we were like what! That's a process that takes a week and it took 6 hours! It was a huge miracle for her and so she was able to come to the temple and it was so sweet. It was very cool and very much a miracle. That was really cool to see.
