Week 55 - Parau Api

This week has been wild! The biggest "parau api" (news) is that, in about one hour, I'll be at the airport to take my flight to RAIATEA! Raiatea is an island in a collection of islands called the "society islands" (I think, I'll fact check myself once I get there) and is pretty far from Tahiti. It's going to be a lot smaller, and tons of fun. I've heard amazing things about it, and so I can hardly wait - for the beach, for the food, for the people... everything I've heard is amazing. And, every time I tell someone about this, they say, "Oh, I come from there!" or "I have family over there!" I'm very excited to meet everyone's family, lol. Don't worry - lots of pictures coming your way next week, and probably lots of stories. And lots slower internet.

I am so grateful for this eighteen months for the Lord to guide my life so directly! I don't choose where I go, but I always find out why I was supposed to go there.

My ward here in Faa'a is so special, and in only six weeks, I've made friends that I know I'll never forget. People like Heiura, who was baptized, and Tahia, who fed us dinner one night and the next morning made us pancakes because I was talking about pancakes the night before. I love these people so much.

Lots and lots and lots of love from across the Pacific,
Soeur Sperry
